Building Belektron’s system for modern efficiency

Belektron, a key player in the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), faced significant challenges as their business grew in the complex and fast-paced carbon market. As a company handling thousands of CO2 emission allowance transactions, Belektron required a solution that could process complex trades, monitor real-time data, manage portfolios, and streamline administrative tasks such as invoicing and accounting.

The solution

The birth of Tradergy

For Belektron, we embarked on a project to completely rebuild their trading platform, now named Tradergy, from the ground up. Our approach was centered on delivering a modern, efficient, and scalable platform that could seamlessly handle the complexities of their operations.

The development of Tradergy began with a comprehensive assessment of Belektron’s existing platform. We identified the key areas where the old system fell short and worked closely with Belektron to understand their requirements for the new platform.

After extensive feedback and collaboration with Belektron, we designed the new system and architecture using Vue.js for the frontend and Laravel for the backend. By combining these technologies, along with the inclusion of LDAP authentication for secure login and responsive design to ensure usability across all devices, we created a platform that offered a scalable infrastructure, modular architecture and a seamless user experience that addressed Belektron’s operational needs while allowing for future growth and adaptation.

Streamlined invoicing and accounting: The automated invoicing and accounting modules have reduced administrative workloads, eliminated manual errors, and allowed Belektron to focus more on core trading activities.
Scalable and future-proof infrastructure: Tradergy’s modern, modular architecture ensures that Belektron can continue to grow without worrying about system performance or scalability. The platform is flexible enough to accommodate new features and adapt to the changing demands of the carbon market.
Support for risk management operations: Tradergy provides essential tools for the daily operations of the risk management department, allowing for real-time risk monitoring and accurate data for risk assessment. The ability to process and display data in real-time is especially important for risk management, as the team requires instant updates on key risk factors.
Modular architecture: Tradergy was developed as a modular system, with over 20 independent modules managing key functions such as portfolio management, invoicing, transaction processing, and accounting. This modular approach provided flexibility and ease of maintenance, ensuring the system could be easily expanded or adjusted as Belektron’s operations grow.
